At its simplest, prayer is a conversation with God.
Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus modelled a life of consistent prayer. He regularly withdrew to spend time with His Father, and He also taught His disciples how to pray (Matthew 6:9–13; Luke 11:1–4).
Yet, if we're honest, prayer isn't always easy. Life becomes busy. We struggle to find the time, the words, or even the motivation to pray.
We believe that prayer is an essential part of our relationship with God. Just as every healthy relationship depends on meaningful communication, our relationship with our heavenly Father grows stronger as we spend time talking with Him and listening to Him.
Over the coming months, our desire is to host a series of small gatherings where we will explore the heart of prayer together. We'll unpack questions such as:
-
Why do we pray?
-
What is the purpose of prayer?
-
How did Jesus teach us to pray?
-
How can we develop a consistent and meaningful prayer life?
These gatherings are designed for everyone—whether you're new to prayer or have been praying for years.
Our sessions will be based on the Gebedskool ("Prayer School"), developed by Ds. Peet Grobbelaar while serving at one of South Africa's largest churches.
He is also the author of Om met God te Praat ("To Talk with God"), a practical 13-week study that helps believers cultivate a deeper and more effective prayer life.
